Boston, MA - November 29, 2010 is the day of the 2010 NAACP Election for Boston.
MPA - Milwaukee Professionals Association wishes Attorney Michael Curry as the victor.
Boston's NAACP - National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is approaching its 100th Birthday (2011) and it like Milwaukee has experienced a declined that called for NEW leadership.
The two candidates for president in today's election are:
- Attorney Michael Curry
- Ex-Senator Bill Owens
His opponent is Bill Owens, 73 years and ex-senator left office 17 years ago in 1993. He has an office at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Owens pledges to bring back the "old glory days" and claims to have an independent voice. However, since he is was recruited by NAACP leader Juan Cofield, branch Treasurer and President, Regional NAACP representative - New England Area Conference, to run against Curry, he is viewed suspect. This is especially true with the disclosure of a NAACP deal ($1.5 million) and the pharmaceutical company for the drug BiDil for African Americans with congestive heart failures.
The drug is controversial and therefore Owens and Cofield's relationship plus Cofield and the NAACP relationship with the drug BiDil has raised more than eyebrows.
